The president, who was at the White House on Wednesday for an Oval Office meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, said the killings were done out of hate and radicalism.
The shooting near the Capitol occurred outside an event at the Capital Jewish Museum. A suspect shouted "Free, free Palestine" after he was taken into custody, officials said.
