Desperate Fox News Proposes VP Debate That Trump Camp Quickly Accepts
Fox NewsWith it almost certain that Fox News will not be hosting a presidential debate this year, the conservative cable giant surprisingly proposed a vice presidential debate on Friday that Donald Trump's campaign has already accepted.

Fox News chief political anchor Bret Baier made the announcement during an appearance on Martha MacCallum's afternoon news program, calling it the "Wild West of debate proposals."

Fox's request to host a VP showdown comes two days after President Joe Biden and Trump agreed to debate in June and September, with CNN and ABC News moderating those events. Baier also noted on Friday that Fox News has so far been unsuccessful in getting both campaigns to agree to a standoff on the right-wing channel.

Judge Puts Paul Pelosi Attacker Behind Bars for Decades
Getty Images/Michael ShortA California judge came down hard on the man who broke into Paul Pelosi's home and struck him with a hammer in 2022, sentencing David DePape, a conspiracist obsessed with right-wing podcasts, to three decades in a federal prison.

It's a lengthy sentence for DePape, who will be in his mid-70s if he's to serve his federal sentence in its entirety. He faced a potential sentence of up to life in prison, but his lawyers argued he deserved only 25 years in the clink.

DePape, 44, was convicted in November on federal charges of assault on an immediate family member of a federal official and attempted kidnapping of a federal official.

"Resist the Normalization of Evil": Israeli Reporter Amira Hass on Palestine & the Role of Journalism
Our guest is the Haaretz correspondent Amira Hass, the only Israeli Jewish journalist to have spent 30 years living in and reporting from Gaza and the West Bank. She is the recipient of the 2024 Columbia Journalism Award, and on Wednesday she addressed the graduating class of the Columbia Journalism School in New York City. Hass discusses the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza, why journalists should "resist the normalization of evil and injustice," Israel's recent censorship of Al Jazeera, its maintenance of a strict apartheid system, its complete rejection of the prospect of Palestinian statehood and more. "Israel took Palestinian life, liberty and freedom as hostage for the past 75 years," says Hass. "You go to Tel Aviv, you think you are in New York or you are in London — and 40, 50 kilometers away, Palestinians live in cages."

We also play an excerpt from the student and faculty-led "People's Graduation" held Thursday at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City in response to Columbia University's crackdown on student protest, which culminated in the administration's cancellation of university-wide commencement. Centering Palestinian solidarity, the People's Graduation featured speakers including the Pulitzer Prize-winning data journalist and illustrator Mona Chalabi, who praised the work of student journalists. While "our institutions have failed us these past seven months, … we listened to your radio stations if we wanted the truth," she said.

Nudist B&B Owners Fight Killjoy Official Over Closure Threat
Patricia de Melo Moreira/AFP via Getty ImagesA pair of Las Vegas naturists claim they are being harassed by authorities for hosting fully-nude travelers at their home, accusing "authoritarian" local officials of trying to shut them down over their free-spirited ways.

Max and Corinne Dufloo insist their three-bedroom B&B, known as the "No Tan Lines Republik," is not a business, but a non-profit "spiritual" association welcoming nudists who are "seeking peace and protection from our consumerist society," according to a federal lawsuit obtained by The Daily Beast.

"NTLR dedicates its donations and contributions to collectively helping, exploring, practicing, and sharing joy and well-being in harmony with our bodies," the Dufloos self-filed complaint states. "NTLR also offers and practices nude yoga, as well as sophrology and meditation in the nude. All NTLR members are fully aligned with these principles and practices and gather for this purpose. In this environment, Max, a recovering alcoholic (member of AA) sober for 18 years, shares the spiritual values of AA with other addicts who are still suffering, and wish to avoid the temptations of the Strip."
