The magnitude 7.4 quake had its epicentre in Chocó province, near the Pacific Coast, but could be felt in cities hundreds of kilometres away.

The temblor, which struck Colombia's Pacific coast shortly after 7:30 a.m., was also felt in Ecuador, Panama and Venezuela.
