The 49ers said Wednesday they plan to release defensive tackle Javon Hargrave with a post-June 1 designation, but that wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. is not going anywhere.
49ers general manager John Lynch, coach Kyle Shanahan and quarterback Brock Purdy have made it clear that they intend to reach an agreement with the hope that it will be done sooner than later.
