Republican Strategist Goes Quiet on CNN When Asked About Trump's Conspiracy
CNNA CNN panel got extremely heated on Wednesday night as Republican strategist Scott Jennings was asked if he believed Donald Trump's debate comments about Haitians eating pets were rooted in racism.

Jennings, a contributor to the network and former special assistant to George W. Bush, was pressed about the issue on NewsNight With Abby Phillip after the former president and other GOP figures boosted the claim about cats, dogs, and geese being consumed in Springfield, Ohio. Local authorities say there's no evidence to support the outlandish rumors.

"I do think it's a legitimate conversation to have about the societal public safety health impacts any time cities or communities get drastically changed because of our immigration system," Jennings said. "Whether that's in Springfield, whether that's on the border with Mexico, whether that's New York City, which has had issues. So I don't think that's an illegitimate conversation to have."

Trump Tanks in Election Betting Odds After Harris Debate
Chip Somodevilla/GettyDonald Trump nosedived in several election betting markets after his performance against Kamala Harris in their first presidential debate Tuesday night.

The Republican nominee had a 46.8 percent chance of winning in November compared with Harris' 51.9 percent as of early Wednesday, according to electionbettingodds.com. The site, which uses odds data from four markets, reported that Trump saw a 3.7 percent decline in the last 24 hours while the vice president surged 4.8 percent.

Trump's chances of returning to the White House also got longer on Polymarket, the prediction market where users bet cryptocurrencies on who will win the election. Despite Trump being ahead of Harris for the past two weeks, users gave both candidates an equal 49 percent chance of winning as of Wednesday morning. A separate market on the site about who polls will say won the debate currently gives Harris a 99 percent chance.

We speak with consumer advocate Ralph Nader and Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz about Tuesday's debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. Nader says that while "it's easy to look good against Trump," Harris is not fundamentally challenging corporate greed, the military-industrial complex, environmental destruction and more.

Longtime GOP Pollster Frank Luntz Says Trump's Campaign Is Over After Bad Debate
Piers Morgan UncensoredAfter spending weeks warning Donald Trump that he needed to up his game in order to prevent a Kamala Harris victory in November, Republican pollster and former strategist Frank Luntz predicted that Tuesday night's poor presidential debate did Trump in for good.

"It was a pretty negative performance—pretty pessimistic, cynical, contemptuous," Luntz said Wednesday on Piers Morgan Uncensored. "And I think that this will cost him, yes."

"I'm trying to decide if I want to go on record, and the answer is yes," he added, "I think that he loses because of this debate performance."

Taylor Swift Remembers 9/11 During MTV VMAs Acceptance Speech
Roy Rochlin/Getty Images for MTVIt's been a whirlwind 24 for hours for Taylor Swift—which, given that this is Taylor Swift we're talking about, is certainly saying something. A typical day in her career doesn't involve so much…patriotism?

After her Instagram post endorsing Kamala Harris for president landed like a lightning strike in the minutes following Tuesday night's presidential debate—releasing an entire hive of bees into conservative pundits' bonnets while simultaneously mobilizing hundreds of thousands of visitors to voter registration websites in just a matter of hours—she won the first award of the night at Thursday's MTV Video Music Awards.

Swift was a surprise attendee at the show, and, when she arrived on the red carpet, many people thought she would use her stage time to continue her galvanizing championing of Harris. But picking up the award for Best Collaboration with Post Malone for their song "Fortnight" (and video, I guess, given the ceremony?), Swift used her speech to remember the lives that were lost on 9/11.

New voting rules in key battleground states could impact the 2024 election results. In Georgia, Democrats are suing to halt a set of Trump-backed election rules which Democrats say could be used to block certification of election results if they win in November. "It appears that Georgia Republicans are laying the groundwork not to certify the presidential election if Kamala Harris wins," explains Ari Berman, who is the voting rights correspondent for Mother Jones magazine. Berman also discusses Tim Walz and JD Vance's voting rights records and a recent voting rights law out of Arizona that requires new voters to prove their U.S. citizenship.

Trump Wanted Them Dead: Exonerated Central Park 5 Speak at DNC & Fight to Defeat Trump
We end today's show in conversation with New York City Councilmember Yusef Salaam. He was one of five teenagers from Harlem — four Black and one Latino — wrongfully accused and convicted of raping and nearly killing 28-year-old white investment banker Trisha Meili in 1989. Meili had been jogging in Central Park when she was assaulted, and the accused teens became known as the Central Park Five. They faced a barrage of racism from the public and news media during their trial, including from real estate mogul and future U.S. president Donald Trump. All of the boys were convicted and served at least six years, with one, Korey Wise, having been tried as an adult, spending over a decade in prison. All were later exonerated after DNA evidence corroborated a separate man's confession to the attack. Redubbed the Exonerated Five, four of the five members addressed the Democratic National Convention last week, slamming Trump, who called for their execution and says he still believes the men are guilty, as hateful and dangerous. "The reality was that we were guilty of the color of our skin," says Salaam, who successfully ran for city council last year.
