President Donald Trump has signed a bill to release files on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

WASHINGTON — House lawmakers unanimously moved Wednesday to claw back a provision tucked into the stopgap bill to end the government shutdown last week that would enable spied-on senators to sue the government for up to $500,000.

The House overwhelmingly rejected a provision allowing Republican senators to sue the federal government after former Special Counsel Jack Smith seized their phone records.

Tuesday's vote further showed the pressure mounting on lawmakers and the Trump administration to meet long-held demands that the Justice Department release its case files on Epstein.
