Alex Wong/Getty Images for Meet the PressBrian Williams' surprising return to the broadcasting chair is "imminent" with a source close to the discussions telling the Daily Beast that the veteran anchor is set to sign a deal with Amazon Prime Video for an Election Night special.
Williams, 65, has not anchored a program on-air since he abruptly resigned from NBC in 2021. Now, his return from the broadcasting wilderness appears set to take place at Amazon as the streaming giant makes a foray into the news space.
"It's a reimagining of a traditional election night," the well-placed source told the Daily Beast, adding that the program would not call the results of the 2024 presidential race, but would include "comprehensive coverage" and have access to the same information as traditional cable news networks.

Brian Snyder/ReutersRepublican presidential nominee Donald Trump threatened to prosecute Google for displaying "bad stories" about him and "good stories" about his opponent, Kamala Harris, should he win the election this November.
The former president took to his Truth Social platform on Friday to express his displeasure with the tech giant's search results.
"It has been determined that Google has illegally used a system of only revealing and displaying bad stories about Donald J. Trump, some made up for this purpose while, at the same time, only revealing good stories about Comrade Kamala Harris," he wrote in the post.
