Biden Says Only ‘Lord Almighty' Can Make Him Go as Dems Sharpen Axes
ABC NewsA defiant President Joe Biden told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos on Friday that last week's debate was simply a "bad episode," blaming his poor performance on exhaustion and not any underlying condition.

Still, despite the dour performance, he refused to withdraw from the race despite a burgeoning movement from Democratic senators and congressman to push him out.

"If the Lord Almighty came down and said, ‘Joe, get out of the race,' I'd get out of the race," Biden said. "The Lord Almighty's not coming down."

Dem Fundraiser Mocks Biden Interview: Davy Crockett at Alamo
ABC NewsPresident Joe Biden is already catching flak from within his own ranks over his Friday-night interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos.

In assessing another shaky Biden performance, a number of Democrats expressed dissatisfaction with the 81-year-old U.S. president, who told Stephanopoulos that high-profile figures in the party, including Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, "all said I should stay in the race."

Prior to the recorded interview being aired, some Democratic lawmakers indicated their minds would not be changed by Biden's appearance, with Rep. Greg Landsman (D-OH) telling Axios: "There were 40 million people that watched the debate, so it'll take more than a rally and an interview to prove that he can make the case that Trump is unfit to be president." Another unidentified lawmaker said the interview will change "zero" minds.

Joe Biden Says ‘They're Forcing Me Out' as Senator's Ouster Plot Revealed
Photo Illustration by Thomas Levinson/The Daily Beast/GettyPresident Joe Biden told a rally in Wisconsin Friday that "they're trying to force me out of the 2024 race"-at exactly the time that an ouster plot led by a Senate heavyweight was revealed.

The president traveled to Madison to address supporters in an energetic and largely gaffe-free speech, telling the crowd, "some folks don't seem to care who you voted for. Well, guess what, they're trying to push me out of the race."

As he spoke, the Washington Post disclosed that Mark Warner, the Democratic senior senator from Virginia, is rallying support among other senators to go to Biden on Monday and ask him to quit the race-casting light on who Biden's "they" might be. Warner is vice chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus and a centrist who had previously been a Biden loyalist.
