A Consumer View Of Boutique Healthcare Would hospital patients willingly pay higher fees for health care that was faster, more convenient, and better coordinated among providers? McKinsey's survey of 2,200 health care consumers indicates that a market for such boutique services does exist—and can be served profitably by US nonprofit hospitals.
The take-away:Boutique health services may trigger philosophical and emotional resistance, but the economic case for providing them is solid. By offering them to people willing to pay, nonprofit hospitals can finance better care for everyone.
