Better purchasing for auto suppliers Although automakers have improved the way they make purchases, the automotive suppliers they buy components from haven’t followed suit. Few of the suppliers have developed good sourcing strategies or analyzed their competitors' costs, and they rarely tap into the strategic knowledge of their own suppliers.
The take-away: Auto suppliers understand the fundamentals of good purchasing but have yet to implement them.
