The Value of Web Services Until now, integrating a company's systems with those of its suppliers, dealers, and customers has been expensive and difficult. Web services promise to make this easier and, in doing so, to improve the efficiency of these network connections at the edge of the enterprise. Once Web services prove themselves on the fringe, companies will increasingly use them internally.
The take-away: Web services technology is a Trojan horse for broader strategic changes. With effective connections among companies finally in place, they can concentrate on improving cross-enterprise processes and deliver greater value to customers.
